With every new year comes new opportunities, but also new challenges.
Social media has been flooded over the past week with details on how to sign your legal documents during 2020.
The abbreviation of dates has meant that we have been able to shorten the year to just the last two digits, removing the need to write 12/12/2019 and instead writing 12/12/19.
However, in 2020 it has been flagged that fraudsters could amend abbreviated dates, either making them more historic, or indeed writing as if in the future. e.g. 2019 or 2021.
We would urge all of our clients to date any legal documents using the full date or indeed writing using words rather than numbers.
